Subject: Just start at Fever.
Resolution - Standard in every way.

RC > Spy - There's no real segue here, it's just a drop right into Spy. Spy has no jam.

Caterpillar - The jam goes nowhere and never really leaves Caterpillar at all. They hadn't figured out how to jam this song yet (or apparently how to turn off the Caterpillar button).

Spraypaint - No jam.

Humu > AC2B - Finally the first real jam of the night, and it's in the middle of a very interesting looking combination. I believe Humu and AC2B have only been paired up on one other occasion. The jam starts out with pretty typical island jammy stuff. The jam gets a little darker, though there's honestly not much about this jam that is memorable until around the 9:50 mark when the beat drops. They get into some spacey psychedelia, and when the beat picks back up, they've got a really interesting sound for the remainder of the jam. It almost sounds middle-eastern at points. They fade out to nothing pretty much (except for Barber) and begin AC2B. The 1st jam of AC2B never really gets that far from AC2B itself, though the peak is well done. AC2B 2nd jams are maybe the most consistent type of jam of 2003. This one starts out with a really neat Barber riff and some interesting interaction with Magner. Really pretty stuff going on in the beginning of this jam. Even though this jam never really gets off the ground, I don't mind it. It's not something that I'll be listening to over and over again, but other than the last few minutes of Humu, this is the first solid piece of improv of the night, so I'll take it. The peak is about as botched as peaks come, with the band confusedly dropping out while Barber hits the peak riff.

Some rare 2003 banter from Magner, including the beginning of the national anthem. I think this is actually the first time I have heard Magner's voice on any of the recordings (other than singing, obviously).

Helix > RC - There is no segue here. The band drops straight out of Helix and right into Rock Candy, though they really only play the music to the beginning of Rock Candy and jump right into a jam. Not sure why they did this, but whatever. The jam is a straight trance jam, but there's some solid playing by Barber and Magner right out of the gate, and I really like the groove the band locks into. This is nothing you've never heard from them before, but they're locked in and playing well. It sounds for a while like they might be headed to Morph, but they make their way back to Rock Candy after a while. The peak here is extremely well done and I like it a lot.

Fever > Ape > Spaga - There's sort of a jam in the beginning of Fever, but it never ventures far from Fever itself, and Brownstein seems content to just keep playing that bassline for a while. At one point it actually sounds like Brownstein is teasing the bassline to "Come Out and Play" by the Offspring, but this is almost certainly a coincidence (this occurs right around the 5:50 mark or so). The band finally manages to get out of this "jam" and into an actual jam, which is nice. At around 11 minutes, the band brings it down to nothing and seems to try and regroup a little bit. When they pick things up once again, it's a sort of dissonant jam. I like that they're experimenting a bit, but this doesn't really go anywhere. About 4 minutes from the switch, they get into some stuff that I really like a lot. The jam in Ape is a DNB jam, with some really great drumming from Sammy and a fairly interesting lead riff from Barber. Unfortunately, this doesn't really go anywhere at all, and Magner is shockingly boring in this jam. Other than a very minimal amount of texturing, it doesn't sound like he's doing anything at all. After a few minutes, he gets more involved and is playing some seriously crazy stuff. I love it. This jam becomes fairly awesome if for no other reason than it's dark, mindfuck music that should show itself in all Biscuits DNB jams. Once this jam gets closer and closer to Spaga, it has become a pretty awesome DNB jam. Barber has some GREAT leads here and Brownstein comes up with a ridiculously awesome chord progression that is similar to Robots and distinct enough to be its own awesome monster. The drop into the middle of Spaga sort of comes out of nowhere, but after that jam I'm pretty okay with a mediocre drop. The 2nd jam here is a typical type I Spaga 2nd jam but Magner plays a lot of really great stuff here.

Shem-Rah > KOTW > Helix - There's a segue listed between Spaga and Shem-Rah, but it's a simple drop segue and I simply can't bring myself to keep listing those. I dig this jam a lot, especially what Magner is doing throughout. Barber stumbles upon a great riff near the 11 minute mark and it fits perfectly with what Magner is doing. The jam out of KOTW is well-played and very patient. Magner and Brownstein build a great foundation and Barber sits back in the pocket until Sammy changes the beat up around the 9 minute mark. The band charges ahead into the Helix ending with some really great phrasing from Barber. I honestly don't care about the jam all that much until the tracking switches to Helix. Some really glorious playing from Barber at the peak of Helix.

Lai - This sounds exactly like what you would expect a Little Lai being played in 2003 to sound like. Meandery jamfunk.

This show is basically all throwaway until Fever. Standouts: RC(2), Fever > Ape > Spaga, SRB > KOTW > Helix. 3 stars because the first half of the show is bland, bland, bland. The second half is mostly solid, though there are only a couple "wow" moments.
